I am reading a book called Killing the Messenger by: Thomas Peele. It is about facing racism at the forefront. A man named Chauncey Bailey who writes near a bakery owned by the Bey's. He writes multiple articles about "Problems of your Black Muslim Bakery" he is later murdered. The hitman was hired and convicted but later the Bey's were prosecuted for the " In June 2011 Yusuf Bey IV, a local bakery owner, and his associate Antoine Mackey were convicted of ordering Bailey's murder. " The book follows this plot exactly with in the prologue following the life of Bailey in the build up of his murder. Then the later parts of the book focus on Yusuf Bey IV and his background and reason for killing Bailey. It also shows how the public and relatives dealt with the murder and civil rights by, making of the Chauncey Bailey Project which is a real thing. "Suddenly a tall, lean man dressed in black sweatshirt...a ski mask covering his face... the masked gun man right on top of him, leveling the weapon right before it erupted." This accurately depicts the day Bailey is killed as it was told in court when convicting the murderer of the killing of writer chauncey Bailey.

This book sounds very interesting! I like how its recent and gives a different perspective than what I'm reading.

It's also a real life situation, so it sounds more realistic than things in my book.

I had a little trouble following how what is happening in your book relates to a current day issue...Are you trying to say that it is a current day issue? If so, then you need to make the connection to something else in present day.
